Red Tree was appointed to strip out and refurbish the Main Library WC facilities and existing student breakout spaces across six floors, creating upgraded toilet facilities alongside enhanced study and social areas. The works also included asbestos removal and the exchange of roof-level FCUs, requiring careful coordination within the tight programme and an operational university environment.

Early contractor engagement enabled us to work closely with the University and design team to plan procurement, logistics and sequencing around examination periods and university activities. With limited external space and no as-built information available, detailed access, delivery and waste management arrangements were developed to maintain safe escape routes and minimise disruption. Noisy and disruptive works were scheduled around operational requirements, allowing the library to remain safe and operational throughout the refurbishment.
