Red Tree was appointed to deliver a new open-plan ‘Smarter Working’ environment within the university’s flagship Business School building. The works included removal and adaptation of existing partitions, ventilation, lighting, power and data, alongside preparation for the subsequent fit-out.
Delivered within a live building hosting graduation and commercial events, the project required careful planning around restricted access, limited compound space and shared building services, while retaining suitable existing materials where possible to minimise waste.
We produced and shared a detailed programme and logistics plan at tender stage, shared with subcontractors, to provide a clear & executable plan for MMU. Internal Site Offices, welfare & WC’s, all within the works area, reduced the burden on the external site constraints.
Our detailed programme scheduled noisy works around planned events & teaching times, allowing us to proactively adapt when informed of additional, unplanned events without impacting on the handover date.
Pre-scheduled, targeted and intrusive M&E surveys allowed us to assist with design development through pre-construction stage. Service diversions were planned and completed out of hours, without disruption to university services.
