The DEN

Red Tree delivered the transformation of existing spaces within Manchester Metropolitan University’s Dalton Building to create the Digital Education Nexus (The DEN), a state-of-the-art teaching and learning facility designed to support innovative healthcare and science education.

The completed facility includes a bespoke immersive theatre, a dedicated virtual reality suite and space for eight Anatomage virtual dissection tables. These advanced technologies provide students with interactive, anatomically accurate 3D visualisations and immersive learning experiences, allowing them to explore complex biological systems and practise clinical scenarios within a safe, controlled environment.

Early contractor involvement enabled Red Tree to work collaboratively with the University and project team to develop the spaces around the specialist technology and operational requirements of the DEN. This early engagement helped ensure the teaching environments were practical, efficient and fully equipped to support innovative teaching methods, while coordinating the integration of the specialist systems and technology required throughout the facility.

The completed works have created a modern, flexible learning environment that brings together virtual and mixed-reality technologies, high-specification computing and advanced digital teaching facilities.
